The Second-Generation Studio Underd0g 02Series: A Slimmer, More Powerful Field Watch
The 02Series, Studio Underd0g's 'difficult second album', has been reimagined and improved with the release of the 02Series Gen2. This new iteration takes the classic field watch and adds a playful twist, inspired by a theoretical 1945 Ministry of Defence brief and the Dirty Dozen watches. The result is a slimmer, more powerful watch that retains the original's compact dimensions while making significant technical and ergonomic upgrades.
One of the most noticeable changes is the reduction in thickness. The case now measures just 11.5mm, down from 12mm in the original 02s, thanks to a reworked dial and hand construction. The domed sapphire crystal has been removed, allowing the case to sit closer to the display and further reducing the overall thickness to 9.4mm. This meticulous attention to detail was made possible by Studio Underd0g's in-house workshop, The D0ghouse, which ensured tighter assembly tolerances.
The dial has also been improved for better legibility. The minutes track has been moved slightly inwards, and the handset has been completely retooled. The amount of printed text has been reduced and rebalanced, ensuring a clean and modern look. The dial now comes in four new colors: Nightshade, a deep purple tone; Red L0lly, a cherry red; and returning colors Pink Lem0nade and Steffany Blue. The colors are created by tinting the 1mm-thick sapphire layer, which is suspended above the metallic dial base, with a sunburst pattern etched into the layer below, producing changing reflections.
Inside the watch, a significant upgrade has been made. The Sellita SW200-2 M Power+ movement, which delivers 63 hours of power reserve, has replaced the previous Sellita SW210-1. This new movement, running at 28,800 vibrations per hour, retains hacking seconds for precise time setting. The collection's Jellyfish image, a reference to its 100m water resistance, now sits against a matte background on the screw-down caseback.
The 02Series Gen2 also features new leather straps by The Strap Tailor, with each color receiving its own unique combination.
